True hope is based on reality, but false hope is based on sheer romanticism. When you analyze an issue and take a realistic view of things, you have reason to be hopeful, but when you ignore the realities and adopt an ostrich-like view, then you're entertaining false hopes. The air in our nation, often lauded as “developed," feels heavy with a truth we whisper among ourselves: beneath the polished facade, a deep rot festers. We've watched with a growing sense of despair as the promise is systematically undermined by the many leaders entrusted to hold it be it the government or the opposition.
The shadow of corruption seems to stretch unendingly, staining the highest offices. How can you deny this fact? A minister had kept RM170 million ringgit and 16 kilograms of gold bars in a safehouse. Can the minister say he earned all this property through hard work? It would be the biggest joke if ministers were paid so much to do their job. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as I am sure many other leaders have money in safe houses like the ‘safe house phenomenon'. And I believe nowhere in the world has such an incident has happened. A house just to keep cash. No wonder the rent in the city is very high
Corruption began to rear its ugly head after the first few leaders who governed the country. Later, all what, some leaders held office was to earn money. It's a struggle that plays out in the public eye, a testament to the deep-seated nature of the people. It isn't about an individual problem but a problem of a broader sense that threatens the stability of the country. It's a difficult problem as we wonder how to break away from the pattern and bring about the integrity our early leaders had established
A troubling pattern began to emerge with many leaders entangled in webs of corruption, secret dealings and excessive wealth. The slogan clean and efficient government now looks like a grim prophecy. A promised governance of “Bersih Cekap dan Amanah” now seems like a distant dream. Even now, many of our leaders are caught in an ongoing visible battle in their effort to instill integrity but are blocked by a powerful coalition that has no sense of patriotism.
