Dr Akmal Saleh, Umno's Youth Chief, has been making headlines recently due to his persistent threats in calling for boycott of KK Mart due to the offensive socks incident and other 3Rs related controversial issues.

Despite receiving apology from the founder of KK Mart for the unintentional mistake, Dr Akmal Saleh continues to show defiance to accept the apology and making unreasonable demands to prolong the issue.

Religion teaches us the value of forgiveness and it is imperative for leaders like Dr Akmal Saleh to demonstrate strong leadership with humility behavior, rather than perpetuating issues that disrupt harmony in society.

Dr Akmal Saleh's involvement in making sensational headlines of his highly charged views of sensitive issues in stirring public sentiments can be seen as a strategic move to compete with Perikatan National for Malay support in future elections. By fueling sentiments surrounding sensitive issues such as religion, he may be trying to position Umno as the leading party for Malay interests and gain personal political mileage in his future Umno elections.

However, this approach without considering the negative consequences may backfire and lead to the loss of non-Malay support for Umno and BN parties and widen divides within Malaysian society.

Dr Akmal Saleh's continual rantings without considering the negative consequences may be an attempt to make Umno relevant in a rapidly changing political landscape. By playing up controversy and reinforcing conservative ideals, he may believe he is appealing to a core base of supporters. However, this strategy may also isolate moderate voters and hinder Umno's ability to attract a broader coalition of supporters.

Dr Akmal Saleh's actions are not in alignment with the Unity Government's focus on achieving racial and religious harmony. His extremism and peddling of racist stereotypes could further divide the multiethnic fabric of Malaysian society.

In addition, Dr Akmal Saleh's firebrand style of political dance shows a lack of experience and wisdom in dealing with Umno's current political partners, which may harm Umno's reputation in the long run.

Dr Akmal Saleh's actions on gaming up sensitive and controversial issues raise questions about his intentions and the impact they may have on Umno's standing in Malaysian politics. It is essential for Dr Akmal Saleh to consider the broader implications of his actions and prioritize the unity and harmony of the nation.
