PAS wants Dr. M as the de facto leader of PN. Well just like the cliche phrase used by Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator ‘I will be back’ Dr. M is coming back strong again as a de facto leader of the four states. Some very selfish people in Politics keep showing that it is all about power and to hold on to it at all costs without thinking about the country.
A UMNO politician on his Facebook account commented that the decision was indeed a 'wise move' by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) to make Dr M an adviser for the opposition-controlled states designated as a de facto leader of the coalition. Four states under PN agreed to group up to be known as State-Government 4 or in short SG4 which also includes Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the Menteri Besar of Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will discuss the action plan for the SG4 group, with Mahathir playing an unofficial role, including in aspects of governance and relations with foreign investors.
Earlier in the month, Mahathir met with a delegation of PAS' top leaders, including President Hadi Awang and Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan, as well as senior ministers Shukri Ramli (Perlis), Sanusi Md Nor (Kedah), Nassuruddin Daud (Kelantan) and Samsuri.
For specific reasons, the PN Chairman Muhyiddin Yassin was not invited to the meeting between Mahathir and some PAS leaders earlier this month. The move would bring Dr. Mahathir back actively into the forefront of politics and obliterate the bad record of the loss of his Langkawi seat to Suhaimi Abdullah from PN.
It also shows that Muhyiddin's options are limited and he is forced to concur with decisions made by PAS regarding the role that Mahathir will play in the coalition in the future.
According to Terengganu Menteri Besar, Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who is also the second in command in PAS felt that Tun Dr Mahathir's experience in the development of the country is extensive and cannot be denied. Tun Dr. Mahathir has already spoken about the efficient governance that is needed at the state level so that projects are approved efficiently and because it is not investors avoid PAS-ruled states and turn to other states. The other salient point he made was that the former Prime Minister could connect countries such as Japan and Korea to invest in the SG4 because of his ties with them.
SG4 is a strategic collaboration according to the jurisdiction of the four states concerned which will focus on economic development and improving the standards of the people in the states involved by identifying assets, strengths, strategic cooperation and so on that can be implemented.
The governments of Terengganu and Perlis have begun the collaboration to build and establish a Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd hospital and the four menteri besar agreed in principle to establish cooperation.
The PAS deputy had instructed the relevant EXCO members to discuss with their colleagues in the three other states under PN.
We may have to wait and see how the Chairman of PN responds to the grand plan of the SG4 with Dr. M at its helm by PAS.
