Kota Kinabalu: Organisers of the Bangkit Sabahan 2.0 Peaceful Assembly have assured the public that the gathering scheduled for July 4 and 5 at Deasoka Square will be conducted peacefully, orderly and in full compliance with all conditions set by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
Bangkit Sabahan 2.0 adviser Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar welcomed the police’s approval for the assembly and expressed appreciation for the authorities’ cooperation in safeguarding the people’s right to assemble peacefully in accordance with the law.
He said the organisers were fully committed to complying with all conditions imposed by the police and would work closely with the authorities to ensure the smooth running of the event while maintaining public safety and order.
“We guarantee that all the conditions set by the police will be fully complied with. I hope all participants will cooperate with the police, obey all regulations and avoid any actions that could provoke unrest or disrupt public order,” he said.
According to Zulkarnain, the Bangkit Sabahan 2.0 Peaceful Assembly aims not only to bring Sabahans together peacefully but also to provide a platform for the people to express their views on issues affecting the State’s interests.
The assembly is expected to draw about 1,000 participants from various sectors of Sabah society.
Among its objectives are to express support for Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, demonstrate love for the State and urge the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to reopen investigations into alleged corruption involving Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
The gathering also seeks to provide an avenue for the public to voice their opinions peacefully within the framework of the law.
Zulkarnain said participants are encouraged to wear black as the official theme of the assembly, describing the colour as a symbol of unity, solidarity and the determination of Sabahans to express their aspirations peacefully while demonstrating their collective commitment to defending the State’s interests.
He also urged all attendees to remain disciplined, respect police instructions and work together to ensure the assembly proceeds peacefully, orderly and responsibly.
“I am confident that with the cooperation of everyone, the Bangkit Sabahan 2.0 Peaceful Assembly will be a mature, peaceful and responsible gathering, proving that Sabahans are capable of expressing their views through lawful channels,” he said.
