I used to take the opinions of others far too seriously. A fleeting remark, a critical glance, or even silence—I would overanalyze everything. It would create a whirlwind in my mind, leading me to question my self-worth. However, you know what? That version of myself was unaware of her value. She was still in the process of learning. And perhaps you are still in that process as well.
One lesson I have learned through difficult experiences is that the opinions of others do not define your reality. They are merely reflections of their perspectives, not a representation of who you are.
People will form judgments about you, whether you are thriving or facing challenges. If you express yourself, they may label you as too loud. If you remain silent, they might consider you weak. There is no victory in attempting to satisfy everyone. So why expend your energy in that pursuit?
You have the right to grow at your own pace. You have the right to shine in your unique way. You do not require validation to be worthy.
The world will attempt to confine you within certain limits. Yet, you were never intended to be confined. You are meant to be authentic, embracing your imperfections, emotions, strength, and gentleness.
Indeed, it can be painful when others fail to comprehend you. However, do not allow their words to occupy space in your heart without cost. Not everyone is destined to grasp your journey, and that is perfectly acceptable. What is most important is how you perceive yourself when you gaze into the mirror.
Repeat after me:
I am not what they think. I am what I believe.
I am not what they say. I am what I choose to become.
Protect your peace. Heal in private. Grow anyway.
Because the only opinion that truly matters… is the one you hold of yourself.
