Over 200 turn up for free health screening

Kota Kinabalu: More than 200 people attended a free community health screening organised by Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice-President and Api-Api Division Chairman Sim Fui at the Damai Morning Market on Saturday.

The programme offered free blood pressure and blood glucose checks, osteoporosis screening, presbyopia and vision checks, as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine pulse diagnosis and health consultations.

It was the third consecutive year Sim and his team organised the initiative in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival period, with this year’s programme moved to Damai Morning Market to make the services more accessible to residents.

Sim said the turnout showed there was a need for accessible basic health services, particularly for senior citizens, while encouraging preventive healthcare and early detection.

“By bringing simple and practical health screenings closer to the people, we hope to encourage everyone, especially our senior citizens, to pay greater attention to preventive healthcare and early detection,” he said.

Api-Api Division Activities Bureau Chief Jerry Pan Fui San said the programme also aimed to strengthen community ties and preserve cultural values, while Sim said his team would continue organising community programmes focusing on health, welfare, community engagement and cultural activities.
