If you’re a Form Six student, or parent of one, you’re due RM150 in Early Schooling Aid (Bantuan Awal Persekolahan, or BAP) this year. The Education Ministry says 96,013 Form Six students will benefit from the 2026 round, backed by an allocation of RM14.4 million.
This is the first full year that Form Six students are covered by BAP, which previously stopped at Form Five. The extension was approved last year, so both new and existing Form Six students now receive the same RM150 as younger students.
New Students Receive Their RM150 Between 28 June And 27 July
Out of the total, 52,810 are new Form Six students who enrolled on 8 June at 616 Form Six Centres nationwide, most of which operate within regular secondary schools. The schools are handing out the aid from 28 June to 27 July, so if you’re in this group and haven’t received anything yet, there’s still time before the window closes.
The remaining recipients are students who were already in Form Six last year. They were covered when the government first extended the aid to Form Six, and the current distribution round focuses on the new intake.
You Do Not Need To Apply For The Aid
BAP does not involve any application form or online registration. Your school identifies eligible students automatically from its enrolment records, so as long as you’re a Malaysian citizen registered as a student there, you’re on the list.
The money comes through your school rather than directly from the ministry. Schools typically hand it out in cash during an arranged session, though some may credit it into a student’s bank account instead, depending on the school’s arrangement. Your school will notify you of the date and method, usually through a letter, your teacher, or the class WhatsApp group. Bring your MyKad along in case the school asks to verify your identity. If the distribution window has passed and you still haven’t received the RM150, check with the school office directly.
The Aid Now Covers Every Level From Year One To Form Six
BAP started in 2012 as a one-off payment to help parents with back-to-school costs such as uniforms, shoes, books, and stationery. Until recently, it covered students from Year One to Form Five only, which left Form Six students out even though their expenses continued.
With the extension, every schooling level from Year One through Form Six now qualifies for the same RM150, regardless of household income. Families with younger children continue to receive the aid for them separately, so a household with one child in Form Six and another in Form Three receives RM150 for each. BAP also sits alongside other government cash and subsidy programmes that families may qualify for at the same time.
For the Form Six student, the money arrives at the start of the STPM year, when reference books, exam fees, and a new set of uniforms come due at the same time.
