Liverpool have received a timely addition to their summer transfer kitty from Southampton.

As the Saints completed a permanent move for Danny Ings, the Reds have received close to 20million for their departed striker.

Ings was on loan at Southampton since January, while they had an obligation to make the move permanent by July 1.

Ings netted eight goals in 24 games for the Saints last season.

His spell at Liverpool was ultimately a failure, as he was not able to replicate his form at the very top end of English football.

He only played 25 games for the Reds since joining from Burnley in 2015.
