MANILA, Philippines — Filipino boxing great Manny Pacquiao said he has no plans yet to run for any government position in the 2028 national elections.

"Focus ako sa business, wala pa (I'm focused on my business, I have no plans (to run for any government position yet)," said Pacquiao.

A former senator and congressman, Pacquiao was asked about the matter following the Digiplus event announcing that he's the company's latest brand ambassador Wednesday at the Shangri-La The Fort Manila in Taguig.

Pacquiao for a senate position last year but did not make the top 12, ranking 18th in votes.

The 47-year-old started his political career as representative of the lone district of Saranggani from 2010 to 2016.

Pacquiao then became a senator, serving his term from 2016 to 2022.

He ran for president in the 2022 elections but lost.

Pacquiao is preparing for his rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. this September, a bout that took 11 years to materialize.

He said it's not too late

"Hindi naman, di naman tayo nagpabaya sa kundisyon natin. (It's not late yet because I made sure to stay in shape.)"
