Kota Kinabalu: South Korean import Park Tae-su has signed a new two-year contract extension with Sabah FC that will tie him until the end of 2024 season.
The news was confirmed by Rhinos team manager Marzuki Nasir on the Club’s social media page on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old from Incheon, who first joined the Rhinos in 2019, played an important role to help the team to finish third in the just concluded top tier league as the team’s top scorer with eight goals.
He had scored a total of 13 goals since he joined Sabah FC in 2019, which he also helped the team gain promotion to the Super League in his first season.
Park, who speaks fluent Malay, is one of the fans’ favourite players and was nicknamed “Pak Karim” by his teammates.
His contract extension has received positive response from the fans and some even suggested him to be granted citizenship through a naturalisation programme.
Meanwhile, there are still no updates from the management on the status of four other Sabah FC imports.
Both Brazilian defender Jackson de Souza and attacking player Taiki Kagayama from Japan are in their first full season with the team, while Portugal-born striker Jose Embalo only joined during the open transfer window in June.
Another fans’ favourite and Indonesian international Saddil Ramdani is rumoured to be leaving at the end of the season after two years with the team.
According to a news portal in Indonesia, the player’s agent, Alex Talpes revealed that Dinamo Minsk, a club from Belarus had offered a contract to Saddil with a decent salary and the opportunity to play in the Europa League.
