Kota Kinabalu: A foreign national has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and two strokes of the cane in Kota Kinabalu for the sexual assault of his young stepdaughter.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain delivered the ruling after determining the prosecution had successfully proven the case against the 44-year-old Pakistani man.
The court heard the man, who had bitten the 11-year-old girl’s breasts and touched her thighs, committed the repulsive offence at a house in Penampang on 29 December 2022.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor had argued for a heavy penalty, highlighting the man’s abuse of trust and lack of genuine remorse towards his former stepdaughter, the child of his second, now-divorced wife.
Upon completing his term for the conviction under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the court ordered the man to be deported back to Pakistan.
