Pakistani sought over fatal Tuaran crash

Tuaran: Police are looking for a Pakistani to assist in investigations into an accident that killed a motorcyclist near a petrol kiosk along Jalan Berungis-Tenghilan at 1.10am on Tuesday.

Tuaran District Police Chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin identified the Pakistani as Ameer Islam, an acquaintance to another individual who was arrested earlier to facilitate investigations.

He said information on the man, whose address is Telipok Settlement, was obtained from his friend who received treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was subsequently arrested at 11am on Tuesday.

“We received an emergency call regarding the road accident at 1.10am on Tuesday.

“The Wira with two people inside sped off. However, one of them was arrested within less than 24 hours,” he said.

He urged those with information on Ameer’s whereabouts to contact the Tuaran Police Investigating Officer at 011-61600964 or the nearest police station.

“The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
