MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Hong Kong was abruptly halted on Thursday morning after a bomb threat was received while the aircraft was preparing for takeoff.
According to PAL, flight PR300 was on the runway holding point at 7:50 a.m. when it aborted its takeoff.
The morning flight experienced operational delays while security protocols were actively carried out.
Aviation Security Group personnel and explosive disposal units cleared the aircraft and baggage under emergency protocols.
According to PAL management, flight PR300 was temporarily held following a security concern and was thoroughly inspected by aviation police before the aircraft was cleared for departure.
"Our teams are assisting passengers and preparing the flight for departure. We thank our passengers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the security procedures," PAL said in a Viber message.
