MANILA, Philippines—President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Friday that Sept. 12, 2026 will be a day of mourning over the passing of National Artist for Literature Resil Mojares.

Under Proclamation 1434, the government will honor Mojares for his contribution to the Philippine literary scene.

As part of the observance, flags shall be flown at half-mast throughout the day.

He was recognized as a National Artist of the Philippines for Literature in 2018.
