MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday congratulated Filipino tennis star, Alex Eala, after securing the WTA 500 championship—the first Filipino to achieve the milestone.
This comes after Eala defeated world No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the WTA tour-level singles title—which resumed after a heavy rain.
In a Facebook post, the President said Eala continued to inspire young Filipinos to dream.
“The Filipino people are with you in celebrating this new achievement,” said Marcos in Filipino.
