MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang responds to criticisms made by Vice President Sara Duterte blaming the country’s suffering on the Marcos administration, stressing that the work continues.
In a video message, Duterte addressed the public, saying that the country’s suffering, including floods, hunger, and high prices, is caused by the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Reacting to this, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said on Monday that the president’s job continues despite “political noise.”
“There is a lot of political noise right now, but government work cannot come to a halt because of it. The work continues,” said Castro in Filipino.
She added that as the peso breached the P62 barrier since late August, the movement is “not unique,” noting that this is caused by the global markets.
“We are confident that the Bangko Sentral is closely monitoring the situation and continues to take the necessary steps to maintain price stability and the integrity of our financial system,” said Castro.
She added that the president remains open to criticism but urged the public to “look at the data and the results.”
