Palace suspends govt work, classes in Northern Luzon on Sept. 1

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday suspended government work and face-to-face classes in parts of Northern Luzon on Tuesday, Sept. 1, due to the expected rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon or habagat.

Memorandum Circular 133 covers Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Apayao, Batanes, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, and Bataan.

Government agencies in these areas can adopt alternative work arrangements. Public and private schools can shift to alternative learning modes.

For those in the private sector, the palace said employers have the discretion to suspend work or shift to alternative working arrangements.
