
THE average farmgate price of dry palay (unmilled rice) surged by 36.3 percent year on year to P22.36 per kilogram (kg) in July from P16.40 in 2025, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Month on month, the national average climbed 2.6 percent from P21.78/kg in June.
Among the regions, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) posted the sharpest annual increase at 71.6 percent, bringing its average to P19.13/kg. Prices in the region also rose 1.6 percent from June.
Cagayan Valley followed with a 61-percent annual increase to P22.01/kg, up 2.1 percent from the previous month.
Central Luzon recorded a 53.7-percent year-on-year gain to P20.38/kg and a 5.5-percent increase from June.
The Bicol Region, meanwhile, registered the biggest month-on-month increase at 23.7 percent, with its July average reaching P23.28/kg.
On the other hand, Central Visayas posted the steepest monthly decline, falling 8.4 percent to P24.25/kg from P26.48 in June.
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recorded a 2.2-percent monthly decline to P20.04/kg from P20.50. It was also the only region cited with a year-on-year decrease, with prices down 1.57 percent.
At the provincial level, Cavite posted the largest annual increase, surging 146.93 percent to P20.52/kg. Its average also climbed 22.2 percent from June.
