Five men pleaded not guilty while one was fined RM2,000 at the Klang Magistrate’s Court over an armed rioting incident in Pandamaran.

KLANG: Five men pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court today to a charge of rioting while armed at a premises in Pandamaran last week, while another man was fined RM2,000 after pleading guilty to the same charge.

Ho Zhen Yang, 26, was fined RM2,000, or two months’ jail in default.

The other five – Ng Shen Hua, 22; Low Yong Xian, 24; Ng Shen Wei, 25; Tio Ec Tao, 23; and Lim Aik Wei, 18 – pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mamat.

All six were charged with rioting while armed with rattan sticks and a baseball bat, with the common intention of injuring a 22-year-old man at a premises in Jalan Chan Ah Choo, Pandamaran, Port Klang, at about 11.30 pm on Aug 22.

They were charged under Section 148 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.

The court granted each of the five accused bail of RM1,500 with one surety and fixed Nov 4 for mention.
