Malaysian diving star Pandelela Rinong confirms she is not retiring, focusing on qualifying for the 2026 Asian Games after a strong trial performance

NATIONAL diving queen Datuk Pandelela Rinong has dismissed any immediate plans for retirement.

She stated her current focus is squarely on qualifying for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

“Not yet (retiring). Right now, my focus is to keep diving. My target is to qualify for the Asian Games,” she said after the National Diving Trials Championship.

Pandelela expressed satisfaction with her performance at the Bukit Jalil trials, where she won the women’s 10m platform event.

She scored a total of 292.05 points, surpassing the required Minimum Qualification Score set by Malaysia Aquatics.

The Sarawakian diver attributed her improved form to better management of a previous injury.

“The first dive was the most difficult and challenging for me, but I’m grateful for my overall performance today,” she added.

Nur Eilisha Rania Muhammad Abrar finished second with 283.15 points.

Lee Yiat Qin secured third place with a score of 266.8.
