Panic gripped Sector 37 on Monday after a minor dispute allegedly escalated into a violent clash between two groups near the Volvo showroom in the area.
Members of both groups allegedly attacked each other with sticks and iron rods, triggering chaos on the road. The confrontation, which continued for several minutes, drew a large crowd of onlookers.
Videos of the incident, recorded by bystanders, were widely shared on social media and have since gone viral. Footage shows young men from both sides exchanging blows with sticks in full public view, apparently undeterred by the presence of passers-by.
Several people can be seen attempting to intervene, but the men involved appeared unwilling to back down. The incident has raised concerns over law and order in the area.
The situation was brought under control after police arrived at the spot, following which those involved dispersed and fled the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the altercation began over a trivial issue. What started as a heated argument and exchange of abuses quickly escalated, with members of both groups allegedly picking up sticks and rods from vehicles and nearby areas.
The clash disrupted traffic in the area, bringing movement on the road to a temporary standstill.
Police officials said a few people sustained minor injuries in the incident. However, no formal complaint had been filed at the police station till the filing of this report.
“We are investigating the matter. Based on the video circulating on social media, efforts are being made to identify the individuals involved," a senior police officer said.
