KUALA LUMPUR – National para shuttler Cheah Liek Hou cements his title as one of the most successful para-badminton players in history after winning two gold medals at the 2024 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand today.

This morning, he recorded his eighth SU5 (upper impairment) men’s singles title after defeating long-time rival Dheva Anrimusthi 21-15, 16-21, 21-15.

It was Liek Hou’s eighth win over the Indonesian in 15 attempts.

The 35-year-old Malaysian gets sweet revenge over Anrimusthi after losing to the Indonesian in the Asian Para Games final in Hangzhou last year.

The KL-ite then added the men’s doubles title to his bulging trophy cabinet – his sixth doubles world title – with partner Fareez Anuar.

They swatted aside the challenge of India's Chirag Baretha-Raj Kumar in straight sets 21-17, 21-18.

That makes it a staggering 14 World Championships gold medals for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic gold medallist. – February 25, 2024
