KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — Barisan Nasional (BN) could be facing internal shifts, with some of its component parties reportedly applying to join Perikatan Nasional (PN), PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man claimed today.

Tuan Ibrahim did not name the parties but said their applications were under review by the PN Supreme Council.

“Many parties have applied to join, we will review one by one. And we welcome anyone, including NGOs, to join. (Some who have applied) include BN component parties.

“(Which parties) remain a secret. We will let it be until an official announcement is made,” he told reporters after opening the PAS Youth Muktamar (annual congress), according to Free Malaysia Today.

PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali had previously revealed informal talks with MCA and MIC, BN’s key component parties.

Observers have speculated that the two parties, feeling sidelined in the coalition and the unity government, may be considering leaving BN.
