President of the Islamic Party PAS, Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang, met the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Ouyang Yujing, yesterday (December 16), and both had a lot to discuss in an effort for closer ties between the two nations.
In an X post yesterday by the leader of PAS, Hadi Awang said both parties exchanged views on efforts to “closer ties” between the two countries in culture, economics, and international relations.
“I deeply appreciate His Excellency’s commitment to fostering closer relations between China and Malaysia, as well as his thoughtful understanding of Malay culture and the broader Muslim world.”
Hadi also mentioned that he hoped this meeting would see closer harmony and cooperation in the cultural and economic fields between Malaysia and China, especially in the four states of Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, and Perlis.
Hadi Awang’s son, Muhammad Khalil, was also present during the meeting but not another fellow PAS member, who is the Chief Commissioner of the party in Perak.
In October, Perak PAS Chief Commissioner Razman Zakaria questioned the presence of Chinese flags flown by Chinese citizens at the Guan Gong cultural festival parade in Teluk Intan, describing it as a challenge to Malaysia’s sovereignty.
