PASIG City has signed agreements with GCash to roll out cashless payouts for beneficiaries of city social service programs and digital payments for stall rentals at a public market.

In a statement released on Wednesday, April 8, the city government said the Funds Disbursement Service Agreement will make the release of financial assistance faster and easier for beneficiaries under programs such as the Pasig City Scholarship Program, local senior pension, and cash subsidy for eligible solo parents.

Pasig said the agreement covers the waiver of disbursement fees and the provision of 30,000 free GCash Cash Cards for beneficiaries.

The city said the cards would be distributed through the Pasig City Education Department, Office for Senior Citizens Affairs, City Social Welfare and Development Office, and other concerned offices.

A separate Scan to Pay Agreement was also signed to allow vendors and concessionaires at the Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market to pay their monthly stall rentals to the city government through GCash’s QR code system.

The Pasig government said the merchant discount rate for the local government would also be waived during the first year of implementing the market payment system.

The city government said the Market Administration Office would lead the implementation of the digital payment feature at the public market.

In his message, Mayor Vico Sotto said the partnership was a “triple win” for the Pasig City government, GCash, and Pasigueños.
