INANAM: Warisan Inanam wants to enlighten the young about Sabah’s rights in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
The party’s focus is on the return of 40 per cent tax revenue to Sabah which is part of the demands of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Warisan Inanam officer Lewis Wong said many do not understand the various demands related to Sabah’s rights in MA63 and the impact on them as well as the future of the state.
“We are getting poorer because our wealth has been taken away. At the same time, many of our rights in MA63 have been eroded. Our rights are manipulated and our future determined by outsiders,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that many of the rights were not defended by past Sabah leaders. He said these and Sabah’s resources were actually handed over.Lewis hopes there will be good news when the decision regarding the special 40 per cent allocation is announced on Sept 12.
The special meeting is focused on the 40 percent issue under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution and the meeting committee is currently at the stage of examining the details of the Sabah government’s recommendation.
At the meeting, several solutions will be decided interim or otherwise.
For Inanam constituency, Lewis said problems faced by hawkers in the tamu, and the worsening road congestion in the town will be Warisan’s priorities if it becomes the government again.
