A Pattaya pot farm went up in smoke, literally, and it wasn’t just the plants that got baked. Turns out, the blaze wasn’t the only thing spreading – the high times were shared with the entire neighborhood! One minute you’re just chillin’, the next you’re giggling uncontrollably because the air smells like a Bob Marley concert.

This four-story “green” house, legally growing the good stuff, apparently had a little “oops” moment when its electrical system decided to throw a rave. A short circuit, they think, turned the grow-op into a hotbox, and the smoke escaped, turning bystanders into accidental stoners.

Firefighters rushed to the scene with water trucks, probably thinking they were dealing with a regular fire. Little did they know, they were walking into a real-life Cheech and Chong movie. While they battled the flames, locals and tourists were reportedly having a very good time, with some experiencing the classic red-eye special and a touch of dizziness. Imagine the scene: firefighters spraying water, while everyone around them is in hysterics, contemplating the meaning of life.

The owner, a 40-year-old named Kanchana, who probably had a very interesting conversation with her insurance agent later, suspects the whole thing was a lighting issue. She’s now 200,000 baht (or about $5,671 USD) lighter in the wallet, and her cannabis farm is now a crispy critter. One has to wonder if she’s now considering switching to growing, I don’t know, maybe cacti? Less flammable, one would hope. —Astro Awani
