A patwari was arrested red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in connection with a land record matter, by a team of the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Karnal from Assandh tehsil on Tuesday.
Confirming the arrest, Superintendent of Police (SP) State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Karnal Range, Mamta Kharab said they have arrested patwari Vijay Kumar, posted at Jalmana patwar circle. “A case has been registered against him and further investigation has been started,” she added.
As per the information, a farmer of Jalmana village filed a complaint that he had purchased land and for the completion of ‘jamabandi’ and other revenue related formalities, he approached patwari. He alleged that patwari demanded money to process the work.
Acting on the complaint, the team members laid a trap. During the operation, the accused patwari, Vijay Kumar, was arrested red-handed.
