LAHAD DATU: The establishment of the Senior Citizen Activity Centre (Pawe) here provides opportunities for senior citizens to conduct daily activities within the community.

Segama Community Development Leader, Datuk Mizma Appehdullah, said Pawe is a good initiative in encouraging senior citizens to carry out activities that can improve their quality of life.

“Pawe provides various activities such as religious programmes, recreation, therapy and rehabilitation, courses and training, as well as talks.

She said Pawe is an initiative managed by the Department of Social Welfare in strategic cooperation between the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) and other government agencies as well as non-governmental organisations.

“Besides providing various facilities and programmes that can help senior citizens improve their quality of life, this initiative can also serve as a platform to strengthen unity among communities of different races and religions,” she said.

She said that various initiatives are being implemented to help people from all groups.

“Initiatives implemented by the government also cover various aspects such as education, economic improvement through business and entrepreneurship assistance and many more.

“We hope that the people can benefit from these initiatives and we at the Community Development Leader Unit will continue to work to ensure that people can enjoy the initiatives and assistance provided by the government,” she added.
