Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has called on voters in Sabah and Sarawak to reject Malayan-based political parties, saying the coming state elections will decide between “colonisation or independence.”PBK President Voon Lee Shan, at a press conference on Thursday, claimed that federal laws and policies, including the Petroleum Development Act 1974, had kept both states poor while benefiting the peninsula.
He confirmed PBK’s intention to contest in the 17th Sabah state election, with the number of seats to be announced on nomination day.
Voon dismissed the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) as a deal based on “manufactured consent,” arguing that it held no weight under international law and urging Sabah and Sarawak to seek independence through peaceful and legal means.
He said PBK has prepared strategies to pursue independence if given the mandate, appealing for voters’ support to “set Sarawak and Sabah free.”
