PENAMPANG: Party Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan said the party’s ultimate goal remained the secession of Sabah and Sarawak from Malaysia, claiming both states had been deliberately left poor under Malaya’s control.
Speaking at a press conference in Bundusan on Saturday, he announced PBK’s entry into Sabah for the 17th State Election and warned voters not to return “recycled politicians” who, he argued, perpetuate corruption.
Voon said Datin Soh Kee Suat and Datuk Ronnie Loh would spearhead PBK’s campaign in Sabah, adding the move came at the request of local supporters though the party had yet to decide how many seats it would contest.
He cited billions in lost revenues, infrastructure shortcomings, the loss of Labuan, and Sarawak’s battle to reclaim Bintulu Port as proof of what he called deliberate underdevelopment, adding PBK would push for its own state anti-graft agency.
Voon stressed PBK would pursue independence legally and peacefully, saying if the federal government failed to honour what was owed, the party would follow Singapore’s path and leave Malaysia.
