KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) has called for greater transparency and accountability in the 2027 national budget, saying every ringgit of public money should have a clear purpose and measurable outcome.

PBM president Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien said budget allocations should directly address the pressures faced by households and small businesses while strengthening healthcare, education and job opportunities.

“We believe every ringgit of public money should have a clear source, purpose and measurable outcome,” he said during press conference at the PBM headquarters today.

Larry said budget decisions should also support local businesses and ensure fair development across all regions, including Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the public should be able to see who benefits from government programmes, how their results would be measured and when they would be reviewed.

“Proposals must also be practical and transparent. The public should be able to see who benefits, how results will be measured and when programmes will be reviewed,” he said.

Larry said PBM’s budget proposals were intended to contribute to discussions on improving the lives of Malaysians.

He also announced the appointment of three new leaders to the party, namely Global Human Rights Federation president and human rights activist S. Shashi Kumar; lawyer and activist Siti Zabedah Kasim; and businessman and political commentator Shamsul Saad.

Larry said their different professional backgrounds would strengthen the party’s team.

“Their different experiences will strengthen our team. We look forward to working together for all Malaysians,” he said.

He also stressed that Malaysia’s diversity should unite rather than divide its people, with every citizen deserving dignity, equal protection under the law and an opportunity to contribute regardless of race or religion.

Larry said PBM would continue engaging with communities, workers, businesses, professionals and civil society in developing its policy positions.

“We will support policies that work for the public and call for improvements when they do not,” he said.
