Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has refuted claims by Parti Warisan (Warisan) information chief Datuk Aziz Jaman regarding the history and implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
PBS vice president Datuk Arthur Sen stated that key issues, including Sabah's entitlement to a 40 per cent net revenue share, were identified and documented prior to Warisan joining the Federal Government in 2018.
He clarified that formal efforts to address MA63 claims began during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's administration through a federal committee, followed by state-level consultations under then-Chief Minister Tun Musa Aman in 2016.
Highlighting actual progress, Arthur noted that concrete achievements—including the constitutional amendment restoring Sabah and Sarawak's equal status and the provision of interim special grant payments—were delivered under subsequent administrations.
He urged all parties to refrain from seeking political credit for MA63, emphasising that securing state rights is an ongoing constitutional process that involves multiple leaderships over time.
