PCG responds to massive fire in Tondo

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues to support inter-agency disaster response operations for the fire victims of Parola, Binondo, Manila.

About 2,134 families were displaced in a massive fire that broke at the Parola Compound last Saturday, May 23, at the Parola Compound in Delpan, Binondo, Manila. Among the first responders are the PCG and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and various fire volunteers groups.

Initial investigations revealed that the fire started at around 2:50 p.m.

A total of 55 fire trucks responded and provided firefighting assistance.

The Coast Guard Fleet and Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL) likewise deployed their floating assets, including Metal Shark 1103, three Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs), and two rubber boats. Other responding water assets included an MMDA ferry boat and a Mandaluyong fire boat.

Simultaneously, PCG personnel rendered first aid assistance to affected individuals in the area.

At around 12:15 a.m. on May 24, 2026, the BFP declared the fire under control.
