PDRM will expedite benefits and welfare assistance for the family of Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim, who died in an electric shock incident in Sabah.

KOTA BHARU: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will expedite benefits and welfare assistance for the family of Corporal Mohamad Nur Hafiz Rahim, 29, who died in an electric shock incident in Beaufort, Sabah, last Thursday.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the move was aimed at easing the burden on the deceased’s wife, who is raising their two-year-old son.

He said today’s visit to the late officer’s family home, accompanied by Bukit Aman Management director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat and Sabah deputy police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin, was also a gesture of sympathy from the entire police force.

“We are here to convey the sympathies of the entire police force to the family of the deceased. The loss of any officer, regardless of rank or position, is a great loss to the police force,” he told reporters after visiting the family at their home in Kampung Hutan Pasir, Ketereh, here.

Saifuddin Nasution said the assistance presented included contributions from the Sabah and Kelantan Police Contingents (IPK), as well as takaful payments from the deceased’s contributions as a member of the Police Cooperative, with total contributions and payments exceeding RM200,000.

He said the deceased had named his wife, Fatimah Shahira, as the beneficiary of his monthly pension, while his mother was also named as a pension recipient.

He added that he had instructed the Bukit Aman Management director to expedite other payments due to the family and assured them that the process would not be subjected to the standard procedure.

“I personally assured the wife and family that all matters relating to the process will be expedited and will not go through the standard procedure,” he said.

Saifuddin Nasution also said the deceased’s wife could contact the IPK should she require further assistance concerning the welfare of her child and family.

Mohamad Nur Hafiz and two other officers, Corporal Chiu Teck Siong, 40, and Constable Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, 26, died at about 5.50 pm last Thursday after they were believed to have suffered electric shocks while moving a metal pole outside the Weston Police Station near Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Weston, Beaufort, Sabah.

Meanwhile, later in Terengganu, Saifuddin also visited the family of Constable Muhammad Raimi Ismarubee, who died in the electric shock incident in Beaufort, Sabah on Aug 6.

Saifuddin arrived at the late personnel’s family home in Felda Kerteh 2 near here at 2.50 pm to meet his father, Ismarubee Ismail, 51, and mother, Nor Azila Zakaria, 46.

He spent about 30 minutes with the family and presented death compensation comprising RM72,500 under the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Cooperative Group Takaful Scheme, RM1,200 from the PDRM Welfare Fund, as well as a personal contribution to the family.

Also present were Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin, Sabah deputy police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin, Terengganu Contingent Police Headquarters Special Branch chief ACP Mohd Ashraf Ali Kutty, Dungun police chief Supt Nik Ab Halim Nik Mat and Felda Terengganu Region director Shahruddin Ab Rahman.

The late Muhammad Raimi, who was the second of three siblings and unmarried, had been stationed at the Weston Police Station since 2024.
