PDRM: Video of S’pore-Registered Car Driver Ignoring Traffic Officer’s Instructions Was from Last Year

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has issued a statement addressing a recent viral video showing a Singapore-registered vehicle driver refusing to cooperate with a traffic police officer in Johor.

In the statement, Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief ACP Raub bin Selamat clarified that the video is actually an old one re-uploaded by the Twitter user adliehassan.

He added that the incident in the video happened on 23 September 2022 near the Causeway connecting Malaysia and Singapore.

In the video, a police traffic officer can be seen instructing a driver in a grey Honda Civic to stop the car, which the individual failed to do multiple times.

Prior to the incident, the vehicle was spotted committing a traffic offence, whereby the driver cut the queue by using the lorry lane to enter Singapore from the Sultan Iskandar Building.

Raub further clarified that the police are still tracking the owner of the vehicle, with the Honda Civic itself being blacklisted, awaiting further action.

In relation to the video going viral, the police advise the public to be careful in leaving comments on social media platforms as it could cause speculations that lead to negative perceptions.
