The Kedah Contingent of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced that it will be implementing proactive measures by making visits to boarding schools in the state, even at night, in an effort to combat bullying among students.
Kedah Police Chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying that the directive was issued following a notable increase in bullying cases recently.

Adzli asserted that there have been 30 bullying cases this year as of August 2025, compared to only 10 for the whole of 2024.
He added that the visits will be personally conducted by School Liaison Officers (PPS) or Kedah District Police Chiefs, depending on the current need and situation.
For the time being, the PDRM Kedah have no plans to set up a special squad for the initiative. They will also assess locations with a risk of bullying cases, such as student dormitories.

Furthermore, PDRM Kedah have discussed with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and agreed to visit dormitories at night as a precautionary measure.
Accordingly, the Kedah Police Chief said that the number of visits to schools and dormitories will be increased from time to time, but there won’t be a set schedule.
“We will decide the appropriate time (for the visits), maybe at night or on the weekend, when students are more active and the risk of bullying incidents is high,” elaborated Adzli.
However, he stressed that the measure is not meant to scare students but rather an initiative to approach them and ensure a safe studying environment.
