Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah ended Malaysia’s 18-year wait for the Denmark Open women’s doubles title after defeating Hinata Suzuki and Nao Yamakita.

KUALA LUMPUR: National badminton pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah ended the country’s 18-year wait for the women’s doubles title at Denmark Open after defeating the Japanese duo of Hinata Suzuki and Nao Yamakita today.

In the match held at Jyske Bank Arena in Odense, the Malaysian pair currently ranked fifth in the world faced no difficulties, securing a straight-games victory, 21-18, 21-11 in 36 minutes.

For the record, the last time a Malaysian women’s doubles pair won the Denmark Open was in 2008, through Chin Eei Hui and Wong Pei Tty.

This victory marks the second title for Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, following their triumph at the Indonesia Masters earlier this year.

Malaysia has the opportunity to secure another title at Denmark Open, as the country’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, are set to face the Indonesian pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
