Kota Kinabalu: The proposal to upgrade Penampang into a municipal council will be brought to the State Cabinet by July this year, said Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
He said while the Penampang District Council is qualified for the upgrade, input and reports are still needed from the Finance Ministry as well as other agencies involved before it can be done.
“Some reports may take a few days or a few months. Once these are ready, we can table it to the Cabinet, hopefully by July,” he told reporters after officiating the Penampang District Council 2023-2025 oath-taking and appointment letter presentation ceremony, here, Thursday.
