Harimau Malaya and Selangor FC striker, Faisal Halim, who was recently subjected to a horrific acid attack, received a generous contribution from the Penang state government in a show of solidarity and support.
The contribution, amounting to RM3,000, was presented by Daniel Gooi, the State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee Chairman, to Faisal's father, Abdul Halim Saad, during a meeting held at the striker's hometown in Mengkuang Titi.
Expressing the state government's concern and compassion, Daniel Gooi emphasized the importance of standing by Faisal during this challenging time. He underscored the gravity of the incident, labeling it as a dark chapter in the annals of local football history, and urged authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
Accompanying Daniel Gooi at the presentation ceremony was Mohd Faidrol Mohd Radzi, the Licensing Director of Seberang City Council and a Board member of Penang FC. Their presence signified a unified front of support from both governmental and footballing bodies.
Reflecting on Faisal's resilience, Daniel expressed hope for his speedy recovery, emphasizing the desire to see him back on the football field, showcasing his talent and determination once again.
The acid attack, which occurred on May 5 at a shopping complex in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, left Faisal with severe fourth-degree burns on multiple parts of his body. Despite the traumatic nature of the incident, Faisal has shown remarkable strength and has undergone surgery at a private hospital. His condition, fortunately, has been reported as stable.
The outpouring of support from the Penang state government underscores the broader solidarity and empathy extended towards Faisal in the aftermath of this senseless act of violence. It serves as a testament to the football community's resilience and unity in times of adversity.
