IPOH: The Perak government is reviewing the implementation of a work-from-home policy for state civil servants. This follows a circular issued by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad said the State Secretary is currently conducting a detailed study. A special briefing for department heads will be held soon to outline the proposed implementation.
“The state government has received a circular from the KSN to examine the potential of allowing relevant staff to work from home,” he said. Saarani was speaking after the presentation of reference books for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.
He noted that this proposed WFH approach differs from measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic. The current policy would serve different objectives that civil servants need to understand.
On other matters, Saarani addressed the possibility of an economic stimulus package. He said the state government would first assess current needs before formulating targeted measures.
Any stimulus initiative would be deliberated in a special state government meeting. The focus would be on strengthening support for farmers and entrepreneurs to navigate economic challenges.
He added that the state recently attended a federal briefing on enhancing food security. This included efforts through the cultivation of short-term crops.
