Perpetual Help athlete wins discus throw gold in NCAA

CAPAS, TARLAC — A discus thrower from San Isidro, Davao Del Norte bagged the gold medal in the track and field competition of NCAA Season 101 on Thursday here in New Clark City.

Bernard Generosa, playing for University of Perpetual Help in the meet, registered a throw of 42.56 meters to rule the event.

"Totoo po ang kataga na ‘Trust the Process.’ Nagbunga po ang rigid training in preparation for this season po, maraming salamat po sa mga coaches namin na walang sawang sumuporta sa amin sa training," said the 21-year-old Generosa after the win.

(The adage ‘Trust the Process’ is true. The rigid training in preparation for this season has paid off, many thanks to our coaches who tirelessly supported us in training)

Generosa, an incoming third year student taking up BS Maritime Engineering, surpassed his personal best 38 meters when he bagged the silver medal in the same event last year.

His teammates also won medals for the Altas as Crisjay Pasion bagged two silver medals in the 80-meter and 1,500-meter runs; JR Castro secured another silver in javelin throw; Michael Villacorta copped the silver in pole vault; DJ Adrian Canque won the silver in 110-meter hurdles;  and team captain Valentin Domalaon settled for the bronze in the pole vault.
