Petr Cech has pointed out the main issue holding Chelsea back from finding consistency but feels that Liam Rosenior is starting to give the team what they need to build some momentum.

Despite a promising start under Rosenior at Stamford Bridge, there is still work to be done. The Blues have dropped points several times recently, and fans are hoping for a stronger response in the coming matches.

Following a frustrating draw against Burnley, the Briton addressed his players with a serious tone for the first time this season. How the squad reacts will be worth keeping an eye on.

Cech has always been someone whose words carry weight around Stamford Bridge, and he has got some advice that ownership should pay close attention to as they look to steady things this season.

Petr Cech believes young squad explains Chelsea’s inconsistency

Cech recently appeared on Discover Plus’ Premier League review show, where he gave an honest assessment of why the club has struggled for consistency. The former goalkeeper highlighted the team’s lack of experience as a key factor.

“They had a couple of games where they are not consistent, but I think it’s the lack of experience in the team. You know, it’s a young team and an ever-changing team and a lot of players and changes,” said the former goalkeeper.

“So, you know, it’s sometimes hard to be consistent, but with the manager now, I think they have a good platform and they are doing steadily well.”

This is not a new issue. Axel Disasi has also pointed out that Thiago Silva leaving created another gap in experience within the squad, though ownership has not addressed it yet.

Why Chelsea’s owners need a change of direction

Going into the summer, there have been mixed signals about Chelsea’s transfer approach. Some reports suggest the Blues are considering a shift towards adding more experienced players, while others indicate they remain committed to their youth-first philosophy.

Under the current approach, Rosenior is managing the Premier League’s youngest squad. The raw talent in the group is clear, but they have already dropped 19 points from winning positions this season, highlighting how inexperience may be affecting their results.

Chelsea have not balanced youthful potential with proven experience, and it is showing. They are missing leaders who can help steady games and turn strong performances into consistent wins.

This needs to be addressed moving forward.
