Kota Kinabalu: Petronas has launched two digital platforms in collaboration with the Sabah Government to strengthen workforce development and improve employment opportunities in the State's oil and gas industry.
The platforms, Permohonan Online Pekerjaan dan Latihan Dalam Industri Minyak dan Gas (POMIGAS) and the Sabah Work Pass Online System, were launched by Secretary of State, Home Affairs and Research (Chief Minister's Department), Datuk Haji Awang Shahminan Awang Sahari, during the Sabah Oil & Gas Industry Talent Alignment Forum (SOGITAF) 2.0 on Tuesday.
Also present was Petronas Senior General Manager of Human Resource for Upstream and Malaysia Petroleum Management, Maria Teo.
POMIGAS is a centralised online platform integrated with the Sabah Jobs Portal ecosystem, providing Sabahans, particularly youths, graduates and job seekers, with access to job matching and training opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
The platform also aims to strengthen workforce readiness by connecting local talent with industry needs.
Meanwhile, the Sabah Work Pass Online System streamlines the submission and management of work pass applications, enabling employers to submit documents online, monitor application status and facilitate processing with the relevant immigration and labour authorities.
"The two platforms reflect the Sabah Government and Petronas' collaborative efforts in strengthening Sabah's oil and gas workforce ecosystem by creating greater access and participation in industry opportunities, supporting the development of local talent, and ensuring a more coordinated approach in connecting Sabahans with industry needs," said Awang Shahminan.
Petronas Sabah and Labuan Regional Office General Manager Datuk Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the company remains committed to developing Sabah's local talent through initiatives that enhance workforce capabilities and improve access to opportunities in the industry.
Both projects are managed by the Home Affairs and Research Office of the Chief Minister's Department. POMIGAS began operations earlier this year, while the Sabah Work Pass Online System is scheduled to become operational on Sept 1.
The forum serves as a platform for PETRONAS, petroleum arrangement contractors and Sabah authorities to strengthen collaboration, improve understanding of regulatory requirements and address issues affecting the oil and gas industry.
