SHAH ALAM - Pakatan Harapan (PH) Johor has claimed that several polling centres experienced confusion over Election Commission (EC) guidelines after its polling agents were allegedly instructed to leave their posts based on what the coalition described as an incorrect interpretation of the rules.
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Johor Legal Affairs (Kanun) director Ahmad Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda said PH received reports that its polling agents at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Abong in the Simpang Jeram state constituency had been ordered to leave by the Presiding Officer.
According to him, the instruction was based on an alleged EC directive stating that a polling agent was only allowed to serve for two hours.

"I was informed that at several polling centres, particularly in state constituencies with the potential to be won by PH, inappropriate action was allegedly taken by the Presiding Officers.
"I was informed that in the Simpang Jeram state constituency, at SK Sungai Abong, PH polling agents were instructed to leave because there was allegedly an EC directive stating that a polling agent could only serve for two hours.
"This clearly contradicts Paragraph 2.4 and Paragraph 4 of the EC Handbook, which clearly state that the minimum period for a polling agent is two hours, not the maximum period," he said in a statement on Saturday.
Fadhli urged all parties involved in the voting process to carry out their responsibilities professionally and in accordance with the law.
"A police report and an objection under Paragraph 5 of the EC Handbook will be lodged accordingly," he said.
