Kota Kinabalu: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is confident of performing well in the coming Sabah state election as it continues to enjoy good ties with most political parties in the state, said PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

“I believe this time PH will do well, simply because we are friends with most.

“We’ll continue to do our best on the ground,” he said.

He was greeted at KKIA by over 100 Chinese PKR supporters led by brothers Datuk Chee Chi Vun and Datuk Simon Chee Chi Nyen.

Ramanan, who is also Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Deputy Minister, said his visit focused on reviewing preparations for the election and strengthening coordination among PH component branches.

The Sungai Buloh MP added that Sabah PH branch chiefs especially had shown maturity and discipline in addressing candidate-related matters, including dissatisfaction among grassroots leaders in a recent closed door meeting.

“At the end of the day, all PH leaders are loyal to the party and the president. Differences will be resolved through discussions.

Asked about Upko’s decision to contest under its own party logo, Ramanan said that remained Upko’s internal proposal.

“All such decisions must be discussed at the top level. PKR will use the PH logo,” he confirmed.

He also noted that while political developments in Sabah were fluid, PH’s broader cooperation with other parties such as GRS and Umno was a positive sign.

On the formation of the new local coalition, Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS), Ramanan said PH does not view it as a threat.

“I don’t really think so. Things in Sabah are very volatile. Every day there’s something new, whether a new party or a new issue. But we will work with what’s in front of us.”
