PH Melaka, Bersatu in talks for wider election pact

PAKATAN Harapan (PH) Melaka is holding talks with Bersatu and other parties over a possible wider electoral pact ahead of the state election.

PH Melaka chairman Adly Zahari said the discussions were being held in line with decisions made by the PH Presidential Council.

He said Bersatu was among the parties involved, but any agreement would only be announced once the negotiations were concluded.

“The negotiations also include Bersatu, but any form of cooperation will only be announced after the negotiation process has been completed,” he told reporters after attending the launch of Amanah’s election machinery in Duyong today.

Also present were Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

Adly, who is also Deputy Defence Minister, said the distribution of seats among PH’s three component parties — PKR, Amanah and DAP — had been finalised.

Amanah has been allocated eight seats, including Bukit Katil, Durian Tunggal, Telok Mas and Merlimau.

On the possibility of PH working with Barisan Nasional (BN), Adly said no talks had been held with the coalition so far.

Meanwhile in Kuantan, PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the party was ready to contest the Melaka election regardless of the outcome of the negotiations.

“For Keadilan, an opponent is still an opponent. Whatever the outcome is, we are ready to contest,” she told reporters after attending the Madani Kita Programme at the Sungai Isap Damai Multipurpose Hall today. – September 19, 2026
