PH tops investor relations ranking

THE Philippines ranked first among 57 emerging markets and developing economies in investor relations, the Department of Finance (DOF) said on Friday, citing a report by the Institute of International Finance (IIF).

In a news release, the DOF said the IIF assessed investor relations, debt transparency and environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures through surveys and desk research for its annual Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Report, released on July 8.

The Philippines posted the highest overall Investor Relations Country Score at 49.3 out of a possible 50.

Türkiye and Brazil came next, both scoring 48.3, followed by Hungary (47.8), Uruguay (47.4), and Indonesia (47.1) — all of which also ranked among the top performers in 2025.

The report said countries with strong investor relations practices tend to maintain more stable sovereign credit ratings because consistent disclosure and engagement with investors reinforce policy credibility and institutional strength.

“This recognition sends a strong signal that the Philippines is a credible and reliable investment destination. It reflects growing confidence in the Philippine economy and in the reforms we are pursuing,” Finance Secretary Frederick Go said.

The Philippines also ranked among the top three in debt transparency, scoring 12.3 out of 13 for disseminating public debt data and policy information.

It was also one of only four emerging markets and developing economies to earn a perfect 4.0 in the ESG Data and Policy Dissemination Score, joining Hungary, Uruguay and Chile.

The report said active investor engagement and sovereign debt transparency create a “transparency dividend,” reducing market uncertainty, broadening the investor base, lowering borrowing costs and strengthening sovereign credit profiles.

Go said transparency is key to building investor confidence.

“Strong investor confidence he lps the government access financing on better terms, allowing us to invest more in priority programs and services that create jobs, support businesses, and expand opportunities for Filipino families,” he said.
