National Dengue Day was observed at Civil Hospital Phagwara under the theme “Stop Dengue, Adopt Cleanliness" under the leadership of Senior Medical Officer Dr Simardeep Kaur. The programme aimed to spread awareness among the public about dengue fever, its symptoms, prevention and control measures ahead of the monsoon season.
Addressing the gathering, Senior Medical Officer Dr Simardeep Kaur said that the primary objective of observing the day was to educate people about the dangers of dengue and encourage preventive measures before the onset of rains, when mosquito-borne diseases usually witness a rise.

He said that high fever, headache, joint pain and muscle pain are among the major symptoms of dengue. He advised people not to allow water to stagnate in and around their homes and stressed the use of mosquito nets and proper sanitation practices to prevent the disease.
