Kota Kinabalu: The second phase of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project has been approved and is expected to start in 2023 and finish in five years, it has been reported.

Senior Works Minister Dato' Sri Fadilah Yusof said the project is on track despite the pandemic's fallout.

"As for the proposed implementation of Phase 2 SSLR, this project will involve four packages," Dayak Daily reported him as saying in Parliament Wednesday.

"Package 1 is 45km from Mulu to Long Seridan, Package 2 is 92km from Long Seridan to Nanga Medamit, Package 3 is 98km from Long Lopeng to Long Komap, Ba'kelalan, while Package 4 is 91km from Rh Aling to Long Merarap.

"The estimated total length of the road is 326km."

The road network will connect Sarawak and Sabah without going through Brunei, reported Dayak Daily further.
